Why not convert him to Solipsism? It's the philosophical stance that the only thing in the entire universe that you can be totally sure exists is yourself. Everything and everyone else is probably an illusion. All these people-shaped illusions he encounters were never people, and totally unworthy of his rocks and his marksmanship. With any luck he'll redirect his rock-throwing at the only actual person in his universe. Himself. Get him to throw rocks straight up and impact the top of his head. He'll drive himself into the ground like a goddamn tent peg and you can leave him there forever.
