Just a boring ol' trip? Why not replicate the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Purchase and just buy the entire place yourself for a cool $7.2 million?

Mind you, the only real reason Russia sold it in the first place was that they'd just lost the Crimean War to the Brits and reasoned that should war with Britain break out again, they'd never be able to defend their colonial possessions half a world away when British Canada lurked right next door, so why not sell it first? You'll need to recreate these conditions though, as the USA won't dream of selling it unless they too reckon they couldn't defend it, so you'll first need to fake an alien invasion or something.
